کلید محافظ جان زیمنس RCD مخفف عبارت ( Residual Current Device) و یا RCCB مخفف عبارت (Residual Current Circuit Breaker) شامل کلیدهایی می شود که با تشخیص نشت جریان، مدار را در کسری از ثانیه قطع کرده و مانع از صدمات جانی ناشی از نشت جریان می گردد.
با مقایسه جریان فاز و نول (رفت و برگشت مدار) در صورت مشاهده اختلاف سریعا مدار را قطع می کند . لازم به ذکر است باید یک نکته مهم و اساسی را در نظر داشته باشید:
در مدارهای تک فاز جریان رفت و برگشت بایدیکسان و برابر باشد و اختلاف جریان فاز و نول ناشی از نشت جریان بر اثر اتصال هادی فاز با زمین اتفاق خواهد افتاد که جریان به جای عبور از سیم نول ، از طریق زمین به منبع باز می گردد . جریان نشتی ممکن است از راه بدن فردی که با زمین تماس دارد و تصادفاً دستش با قسمت برقدار مدار تماس پیدا کرده است نیز بوجود آید.
